LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
As I look back at this year 2020, like every other person in the world I am baffled by all that took place. It was a strange year, but somehow I also find it to have been the most fulfilling year of my life. I was so humbled and honored in June of this year to receive the opportunity to lead this wonderful organization further into the dark fight against the exploitation and violation of humanity by human trafficking.
As we know, human trafficking exist all over our world today. It is a form of slavery that has sadly existed since the begining of time. In every culture, in every country, and in every community. Here at NISSI, we believe that every individual should know the freedom that Christ grants us through free will, love, and an independent mind, soul and spirit. Sadly, that is not the reality of over 40.3 million people currently living today. How did we get here? I can’t answer that question. I also can’t find a solution that will free all 40.3 million people. However, what I can do, and what YOU can do is we can work toward a solution that will free at least ONE. You see all throughout scripture Christ reminds us that every, living soul is valuable and worthy to Him. So worthy, that He is willing to leave 99 to go find the ONE that is lost or gone astray. So although our internal goals are to help as many people find freedom and complete restoration as possible, if we spend our whole lives fighting this fight and only help ONE person accomplish that - it will be more than worth it!
NISSI is unique in that we strive to partner and work to support existing services for survivors. Where we come in is in identifying gaps in services, and working with various sectors, partners and experts to create sustainable, long-term solutions that will move the needle and increase the success rate for survivors internationally.
I am so proud of the team here at NISSI and thankful for the opportunity to serve survivors by offering a Network of Immediate Services for Survivors Internationally. - Sara Lefevers, President and CEO
